The GSP airside garden, set between the terminal and runway, with planes on either side, is the only one of its kind in the United States. Honoring the legacy of the garden’s visionary, Roger Milliken, was of utmost importance to both the client and the design team. Several concepts were developed before the final concept was selected for design development and construction. Building consensus among stakeholders and working within a tight budget were a couple of the project’s significant challenges.
