Russ Seamon, ASLA, LEED AP
Russ Seamon worked for SW+ for four summers as an intern before graduating with a Bachelors of Landscape Architecture from the University of Georgia in 2003. Returning to SW+ after graduation, he focused his career on sustainable design and smart growth oriented master planning. When out of the office, Russ is usually cooking something on the smoker, working out or spending time outdoors.
Joe Bryant, PE, MCE, LEED AP
Joe graduated with an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from Clemson University followed by a master’s degree from Norwich University. His career started on the northeast coast of Florida but with a growing family they decided to chase the wonderful weather, natural amenities, and lifestyle that the foothills provide. Joe has enjoyed and appreciates the substantial growth and change the Upstate has seen over his 14 years here. Joe has grown into the role of Managing Principal for the firm and is responsible for the Upstate offices of SeamonWhiteside. Outside of his working life, Joe enjoys hunting, golfing, and spending time with his wife Stacie, sons Tripp and Luke, and daughter Harper.
Gary Collins, PLA
Gary was born and educated in Toronto, Canada before moving to North Carolina to attend NC State University where he earned his MLA. Gary has extensive experience, working locally and across the southeast. He is responsible for Corporate Strategy and directs the Business Development and Marketing initiatives across all SW+ offices. Gary is also our resident useless sports information specialist and Canadian trivia enthusiast.
Jason Munday, PE
Unique to SW+, Jason holds a degree in Biological Engineering from the University of Georgia. Since graduating in 2003, he has gained significant experience collaborating with land developers, government agencies, architects, engineers, and contractors. As a registered Professional Engineer, Project Manager and Team Leader, Jason works to establish a well-defined scope of services and development program, prepare detailed construction drawings and formulate economical solutions capable of achieving the quality, budget, and scheduling objectives for a real estate development. His special areas of expertise include mixed-use, multifamily, and commercial development projects. Outside of SW+, Jason enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with his growing family.
William O'Neal, PE, LEED AP
William graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor in Science Degree in Civil Engineering in 2004. He began his civil engineering career with SW+ in January of 2005. Since then, William has achieved several professional milestones; becoming LEED certified in 2009 and earning his PE license in 2010. As a Project Manager for SW+, he has worked on a wide variety of projects such as higher-ed campus facilities, single and multi-family residential developments, commercial and retail centers, including the LEED certified Rivertowne Place shopping center and the Clemson University Penley Golf Training Facility. Outside of the office, William is actively involved with the Hibernian Society, Palmetto Society, and Leadership Charleston. His hobbies include physical fitness, hunting, fishing, and of course, Clemson Football.
Stuart Whiteside, PE
Stuart is the Principal-in-Charge of SW+. He holds master and a bachelor degrees in civil engineering from Clemson University and is a registered Professional Engineer. After a number of years working at an area design firm, Stuart agreed with friend and soon to be partner Kenny Seamon, that they needed to go out on their own. Today, SW+ is one of the most respected civil engineering/ landscape architectural design firms in the Southeast. In addition to his daily office responsibilities, Stuart is active in a number of community based professional organizations, particularly the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce. In 2013, Stuart was named Chairman of Board of the Chamber. Since fulfilling that year long commitment he has continued to be an active member of the Chamber. Stuart’s favorite pastime is without a doubt, golf. When he isn’t hanging out with family or going to a Clemson football game, you may find him playing one of Charleston’s beautiful courses.

Andrew Allen, PE
Andrew graduated with an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from Georgia Tech. He started his career in Florida before following his wife to South Carolina. After working in the upstate of South Carolina for the past 10 years he joined the staff of SW+ in 2017. Andrew is a licensed professional engineer. Off the clock, he enjoys spending time with his three boys and being outdoors.
A proud Tennessee native, Angelike has over 18 years of industry experience with an extensive focus on plant sciences & native ecologies. For 4 years she worked as a project manager in Atlanta’s Midtown, Buckhead and Perimeter neighborhoods overseeing Class A commercial portfolios, client relationships and all design/build efforts for these territories. Fusing her passion for design and horticulture, she returned to school, graduating with her Master’s in Landscape Architecture from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2014. During her time at UTK, she interned for Carol R. Johnson Associates, The US Department of Energy in Oak Ridge and was a Research Assistant for the Landscape Architecture Foundation in DC. Angelike is passionate about plants, travelling, her heritage and lastly, her big ever-expanding Greek family.
Zachary graduated from Clemson in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Mechanization and Business. A year later he began pursuing a masters of Civil Engineering, also from Clemson. For the past 8 months Zachary has interned with SeamonWhiteside in Greenville, SC and is now accepting a position as a Civil Designer I with his same team. Before this Zachary interned at Hulsey McCormick and Wallace, now KCI, a civil and environmental company. Before that Zachary worked for a local church, managed a landscape company, and served as an officer in the SC Army national guard.
Danny Balon, PE
After a two year hiatus from SeamonWhiteside to help start the Civil Engineering department for another firm, Danny Balon has rejoined SW+ to be the Director of the Spartanburg Office. He previously worked in the SW+ Greenville office and has over fourteen years of engineering experience in upstate South Carolina. Danny grew up in Spartanburg and received both his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Civil Engineering from Clemson University.
Craig Berwick, EIT
After earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Craig entered the land development industry to design the future using both his creativity and engineering mindset. As an EIT Craig is dedicated to learning everything about the construction industry. When Craig is not at work, he enjoys playing sports, building furniture, and dog parks.
Michael was born in Florida, lived in the Marshall Islands in the Pacific ocean, then moved to South Carolina. He has lived in S.C. since the third grade and fell in love with the Low Country.
He goes to the beach a lot, plays guitar, and enjoys many of the events that Downtown Charleston has to provide.
Michael went to Clemson University for Civil Engineering and graduated in the class of 2019. He is an avid book reader and loves talking about movies.
Steve Blackwell, RLS
Steve has been a key member of the SW+ staff since the firm’s early days. Detail-oriented and focused on successful outcomes, Steve has accumulated over 35 years of civil engineering and surveying experience. His professional background encompasses fieldwork, design, project management, contract negotiations and staff oversight. Steve has held the position of Director of Engineering Services with SW+ for more than a decade. In this role, his primary responsibilities are project team management, specification writing and development, bid and contract document development and management, and legal and title research. He is also a FAA licensed commercial drone pilot and performs mapping and drone photography for SW+’s growing drone services department. In his spare time, Steve enjoys playing the guitar and camping.
Rusty Blake, PE, LEED AP
Rusty attended Clemson University where he earned a BSCE in 2002 and a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 2004. He began working with SW+ shortly after leaving college in 2004. He provides design, engineering, project management, permit services and construction administration for a wide variety of projects. Since 2008 Rusty has headed up SW+’s Construction Administration department, focusing on managing projects from the bid, construction and final close-out phases. Outside the office Rusty enjoys spending time with his wife, Gene and their three children, Holman, Geni and Nora. He also enjoys hunting, fishing and coaching his kid’s sports teams.
A graduate of The College of Charleston, Denise followed her interest of wine into sales and distribution. She then moved into Management and Marketing of Craft Beer as the laws changed and breweries from all over the world began selling in South Carolina. After many eventful years, Denise stepped back to be more available for her two children, Chappell (10) and Sam (8), and husband, Thomas. Since then she has run her own consulting company helping craft breweries secure contracts and write business plans. Denise has managed the permitting for Northwest Plumbing for the last 3 years and for the last year and a half has served as the Director of Communications for a local church.
In her spare time, she enjoys being with friends on the boat or around a fire pit.
Andy Breit, PE
Andy grew up in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina on the Outer Banks (it’s nothing like the TV Show). He graduated from NC State University with a Civil Engineering degree in December 2016 and moved to Charlotte shortly after. When he is not working he enjoys projects around the house, cooking, sporting events (GO PACK), hiking and traveling.
Colin Brown graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics & Meteorology in 2012. After graduating Colin began working towards becoming a Jack-of-all-Trades, Master-of-All, managing and opening Jersey Mikes stores, collecting banana money at Chiquita, and then, with the largest geotechnical engineering consulting firm in Charlotte. During his time in geotech, Collin gained experience with site and infrastructure design as well as construction administration of commercial and large scale industrial projects located around the North and South Carolina Piedmonts. In his free time, Colin enjoys being outdoors whether it be biking, landscaping, golf, watching and playing sports, or hanging out by a fire all night.
Chip Buchanan, PE
Chip grew up in Kennesaw, GA and attended Clemson University for civil engineering. He has lived in Greenville since graduating in December 2009. His hobbies include Clemson football games, tailgating, golf, being on the lake and spending time with family. He and his wife Emily have a 2-year old, Tripp.
Will Buice, PE
Will is a licensed PE who graduated in 2012 from University of South Carolina with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. He worked with the Rogers & Callcott Environmental prior to joining the SW+ Civil Engineering team in Greenville in 2017. Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his wife Stacy, traveling, and doing anything outdoors whether it’s hiking, biking or playing golf.
Darby Burk, EIT
Darby joined SW+ in 2022 and brought 3 years of experience in site design and stormwater modeling. She graduated from the University of Georgia in Civil Engineering and is working toward her professional engineering licensure. In her free time, Darby enjoys being on the water, spending time with friends, and cheering on the dawgs.
Preston Busbee, EIT
Preston graduated from Clemson University in 2013 with a degree in Environmental Engineering. Following graduation, he moved to Charleston to begin working with SeamonWhiteside in 2014. As a Project Manager, he focuses his time on industrial developments, working with both private developers and local economic developers. Preston is a Member of South Carolina Economic Developers Association (SCEDA), Charleston Young Professionals, and Charitable Society of Charleston. When not working, he enjoys boating, fishing, hiking in the mountains, and attending Clemson Football games.
Alex grew up in Charleston, South Carolina and graduated from Clemson University in May 2022 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture. Outside of the office, he spends the majority of his free time outdoors fly fishing and hiking. He is also passionate about photography and holds his FAA Part 107 Commercial Drone License.
Michael Cain, PLA
Michael graduated from the University of Florida in 2012 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture and a minor in Urban Regional Planning. Upon arriving to SW+ in late 2014, he brings work experiences from both Florida and Texas that include urban design, parks and recreation, residential design and golf course architecture. He carries an array of digital graphic experiences and is passionate about urban design and ecological urbanism. Outside of the office, Michael enjoys playing sports including golf and basketball, composing music, backpacking, traveling, and taking long walks with his wife, Kelly, daughter, Clementine, and dog, Hudson.
Chris Campeau, PLA
Chris graduated from Mississippi State University in 1992 with a Bachelors of Landscape Architecture. He also obtained a Baccalaureate Certificate from Penn State University in Community and Economic Development. With over twenty years of experience in the profession, he has worked in multiple project types across most of the municipalities in the Charleston region. As a Senior Project Manager for large scale, mixed-use projects, Chris manages a team of professionals while providing planning, design, and liaison support for his clients. Chris balances life by coaching his kids’ athletic teams, supporting the Summerville Miracle League, and cooking BBQ competitively all over the southeast.
Kei Cheng, EIT
Kei graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2020 with a degree in Environmental Engineering. She moved to Charleston from Las Vegas in 2020. Outside of work she enjoys playing with her dog, surfing, surf skating, and snowboarding.
Jared Chrysostom, PE
Civil engineer with 7 years’ experience, bachelor’s degree from The Citadel, master’s degree from The University of South Carolina. He lives in Pendleton with his two kids, two cats, and one fish. In his spare time, he enjoys doing a wide variety of things. Running (pretending to be a triathlete), rock climbing / mountaineering, skiing & sailboat racing
Lia made the move from Michigan to begin working with SW+ after graduating from Michigan State University with a degree in Landscape Architecture. Over the last several years she has taken a great interest in the marketing world and now spends her time growing SeamonWhiteside’s brand & recognition.
Outside of work she is involved in ASLA, SMPS, Junior Achievement and mentors with Be A Mentor. Lia loves her life in the Lowcountry and has a passion for traveling, gardening, boating and cooking with her husband.
Cristina graduated from Tri-County Technical College with a General Engineering Degree, but knew Civil is the field she wanted to be in. She worked previously at Professional Engineering Associates on their Civil team for 5 years on commercial, higher education and industrial sites before joining the SW+ Industrial team. Outside of work Cristina loves traveling, playing disc golf and spending time with family and friends.
Taylor Critcher, PLA
Taylor graduated from the Landscape Architecture department at Clemson University in 2011 with a BLA and a minor of Horticulture. After interning with Walt Disney’s Horticulture department in Orlando, FL, Taylor moved to Charleston to begin working with Designworks, LLC, gaining practical experience on projects ranging from renovation of Colonial Lake in the historic district of the peninsula city to landscape enhancement of the Septima Clark Parkway. Taylor’s unique blend of plant knowledge, digital graphics, international experience, and urban design perspective made him a perfect match for the growing SW+ professional team, which he joined in 2013. Outside of the office, Taylor enjoys photography, traveling and any excuse to get to the golf course or beach.
Alex graduated with a Civil Engineering degree from the University of Georgia in December 2017. He worked for 2 years at Michael Baker Int. in Atlanta doing traffic and roadway engineering. He then signed on with SW+ as a Civil Designer. Outside of work, Alex enjoys watching any sports that come on TV and playing with his dog.
Whit Dawson, PLA
Whit is a native of Brunswick, Georgia and graduated from the University of Georgia in 2006 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture. After graduating, he spent 8 years working for the Sea Island Company down on the coast of Georgia, where he gained myriad of project experience working on world class resorts, golf course communities and high end residential projects. Whit excels in both digital and hand graphics, and loves all aspects of design. Outside of the office Whit enjoys spending time with his wife Hayley and playing with his kids, endurance sports, and spending time in the great outdoors.
Alex Deane, EIT
Alex began his career with SeamonWhiteside in November of 2022 shortly after graduating from Florida Gulf Coast University in May. While working towards a BS in Civil Engineering he acquired a new skill set in material testing and verification as a geotechnical lab technician and asphalt plant inspector. After graduation he gained field experience by becoming a CEI Inspector where he worked on various FDOT and County projects that involved roadway and bridge reconstruction. Now that he has moved back to the Carolinas, he enjoys spending his free time in the mountains hiking and fishing. Other hobbies of his include working on his family farm and watching the Tampa Bay Buccaneers every Sunday during the fall.
Jonathan graduated with his BLA from the University of Georgia in 2020. He is a Georgia native but is excited to see what the great state of South Carolina holds. In his free time, he loves working on cars, reading, taking road trips, and a good nap.
York Dilday, PE
York is a Clemson University Civil Engineering graduate with 9 years of Site Civil Engineering experience in the Charleston area. He has lived in the Charleston area for the majority of his life, since his family moved here when he was one. In his free time, York enjoys spending time on the boat, hanging out with his dog and girlfriend, cooking new recipes, and snowboarding out west.
Andrew Di Lillo, EIT
Andrew Joined SW+ Greenville in 2019 after graduating from the University of South Carolina. He is a certified EIT and is working toward his PE.
Andrew grew up in Raleigh, NC. When out of the office you will find him downhill mountain biking, skiing, fly fishing, or playing the guitar.
Caroline Donaldson, PLA
Caroline graduated with a Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from Clemson University and had three years of experience working with Graham Kimak Landscape Designs before joining the SW+ Greenville Office as a Land Planner in June 2017. Caroline enjoys spending most of her free time outdoors rock climbing, hiking, and camping with her husband Matt and her dog Moose.
Born on Vashon Island, Washington State, grew up in New England, and moved to Atlanta GA as a teen where she later met her husband. The family moved to the Lowcountry with their new daughter in 2000 where Erin became an active member of the local arts community, participating in well over a hundred art shows. She began as an office administrator for a local business and later an office manager and permit coordinator for a local electrical contractor before proudly joining SW+ in 2016. Her favorite pastime is goofing off with family, followed closely by her passions for literature, science, and art.
Reed Ehrhardt, PE
Reed was born and raised in Alpharetta, Georgia, but but has a strong passion for his family’s Louisiana roots (Geaux Saints!). He studied Civil Engineering at the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!). After graduating from UGA, he spent a little time in Atlanta before he and his fiancé found their way back to Charleston in June 2019. In his free time, he loves playing golf, exploring Charleston with Kinsey, and finding any excuse to be outside. He and Kinsey are getting married this summer, and they have a dawg named Remi.
Reed interned with SW+ in the summer of 2017 and is excited for the opportunity to come back to SW+ and work with such an incredible team again.
Betsy Ellingson, PLA
Betsy graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture. In 1997, she headed East to join SW+ to design and manage projects ranging from single and multi-family developments to commercial and office centers, school and church campuses. In her free time, she enjoys working in the yard, baking stuff she shouldn’t be eating, and going on hikes with her yellow lab, Callie.
Daniel Ethredge, EIT
Daniel Ethredge works as a Civil Engineer in the Mount Pleasant office. Daniel began with Seamon Whiteside as an intern in 2018 and was brought on full-time as a Civil Designer in January of 2020. He has gained experience across the Lowcountry in both commercial and industrial sectors. A 2019 graduate of Clemson University Honors College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, Daniel has obtained his certification as an Engineer in Training in South Carolina and is actively working towards his Professional Engineering license. As a Mount Pleasant native, he enjoys spending time on the water and playing many sports (including golf, volleyball, & basketball).
Jake attended Frostburg State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Analysis and Planning, Geography with a concentration in Mapping Sciences, and Earth Science in 2015. He has since worked on a design team in support of a variety of projects in Residential, Commercial, and Industrial projects in the Civil Engineering field. He has a passion in both Civil Engineering and Landscape Architecture and looks to be a liaison between the two disciplines as projects move through the permitting and design processes. Outside the office Jake enjoys Beach Volleyball, Line Dancing, and Camping.
Stu Farmer, PE
Stu was born and raised in Aiken, South Carolina before moving to Clemson University, where he earned his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering in 2003. Following graduation, his career brought him to Greenville, SC in 2004. Greenville has seen substantial change and growth over the past 16 years, time that Stu has enjoyed being a part of. Stu has extensive commercial, industrial, and residential experience working in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia. Outside of his working life, Stu enjoys golfing, watching Clemson football, and spending time with his family and friends.
Ligia 'Bela' Fleck
Bela was born and raised in Honduras. She moved to the US to earn her degree in civil engineering and a master’s certificate in communication. Living in a developing country most of her life made her passionate about water resources and specifically providing appropriate infrastructure for the growth of a community. She brings a desire to learn, and previous water related training to join the Water Resources Department in the Greenville office. Outside of work, she enjoys learning languages, doing outdoor activities, sipping on quality coffee, and spending time with family and friends – especially if it involves drinking coffee.
Taylor is originally from Massachusetts but found herself in South Carolina after she fell in love with Clemson University. She graduated in December with her B.S. in Civil Engineering and a minor in Architecture. In her free time she likes to practice yoga, hike, cook, and listen to music.
Claire Folk, EIT
Claire graduated from the University of South Carolina in the Spring of 2020 with a degree in civil engineering. (Yes, it is tough to be a Gamecock fan amongst all these Clemson grads.) After interning with SW+ in the Charlotte office, she joined the Charlotte team full-time in the summer of 2020. Claire enjoys all outdoor adventures, curling up with her cat and a good book, and trying to keep her house plants alive.
Lee Gastley, PLA, LEED AP
Lee is a 1981 graduate (BLA) of the University of Georgia School of Environmental Design. After graduation, he practiced resort design on Hilton Head Island for two years. In 1983, Lee was enticed by Kenny Seamon and Stuart Whiteside to become the first employee of their fledgling firm. He now serves as a Managing Principal of the firm and is the Director of Landscape Architecture, responsible for all aspects of the design process and staff oversight. When not busy herding cats, he enjoys golf, running, and shouting, “Go You Hairy Dawgs!”
Malcolm Glenn, PE
Malcolm grew up in Mt. Pleasant, just down the street from the SeamonWhiteside office, and graduated from Clemson University with a BS/MS degree in Environmental Engineering. Prior to joining SW+, he worked for two local engineering firms focusing on industrial and commercial development projects, for both the public and private sectors. Outside of work, Malcolm enjoys playing golf, going to the beach, and spending time with wife and two children.
Steve joins the SW+ team by way of Charlotte, NC where he worked for a telecommunications firm that aided in the installation of pertinent utilities. Steve lived in Charleston for a number of years after attending Clemson University and missed the beaches Charleston has to offer and is happy to be back satisfying his appetite for running and being outdoors.
Matthew is a Charleston native and Clemson ’12 graduate. He’s worked 10+ years in civil construction with the most recent 6 years in Project Management. On weekends Matthew is either on the boat, working on a project around the house or traveling the southeast region exploring.
Daniel started with SeamonWhiteside in August of 2021. He was born and raised in North Charleston, SC. Daniel graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Civil Engineering in May 2021. He has interned with Mead & Hunt in North Charleston where he worked with the roadway design team.
During his free time he enjoys traveling, playing golf, hunting and fishing. Daniel loves sports and his favorite team to watch is the Atlanta Braves.
Ryan Hall, PE
Ryan graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Civil Engineering. Before starting with SW+ in 2018 as a Senior Civil Engineer, Ryan spent the previous 8 years working primarily on industrial site development in all areas of South Carolina. In his free time, Ryan enjoys spending time with his wife and baby boy, working on projects around the house, and watching college football.
Emily Hancock, PE
Emily joined SW+ in 2019 as a Civil Engineering Project Manager with five years of experience in land development. She is a graduate of the University of Central Florida where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. In her spare time, Emily enjoys hanging out with her dog, running, and cheering on the UCF Knights.
Stephen graduated from South Carolina State Univesity in 2013 with a degree in Civil Engineering. Shortly after graduating, Stephen began his career with Atlantic South Consulting as an Associate Engineer until 2017. Would later work for Turner Construction as a Project Engineer until 2019. Soon after served as the Project Manager for the SCDOT Charleston Construction office until joining SeamonWhiteside in the fall 2021.
Stephen has been married for 3 years to his college sweetheart and has a two year old son named Azel. He enjoys the outdoors, ATV riding, spending time with family and friends, home renovation projects, football! He was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina.
Jasmine was born and raised in Chicago, IL and relocated to Charleston right before starting at SW+ in 2021. She graduated from Bradley University in 2014 where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations. She grew a sudden interest in human resources and later graduated with a Master of Business Administration in HR from Keller Graduate School of Management in 2017.
Outside of work, Jasmine enjoys walking and exploring Charleston eateries.
Kyle graduated from Valparaiso University with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a Business minor. Following graduation, Kyle pursued a professional golf career for four years before returning to his home state, Wisconsin, to be a geotechnical/environmental engineer. In 2021, Kyle made the move to Mount Pleasant to join the SW+ team. In his free time, Kyle enjoys spending time with his wife, Rhiana, going to the beach and watching or playing sports.
Nick Head, PE
Nick graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of South Florida in 2012. Before joining SW+, he worked in both the private and public sectors for AECOM and the City of St. Petersburg, respectively. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, cooking and playing/watching soccer, football, hockey and golf.
Maddie was born and raised in San Francisco, California. Growing up in a family of landscape architects and designers, she is very familiar with site visits, landscape designs, and Home Depot.
Maddie made the move from California to South Carolina in 2017 to attend The College of Charleston. In 2021, she graduated with a B.A. in Communications and a minor in Creative writing. Shortly after, Maddie went back to school to receive her certificate in Book Publishing, and Media Strategies from New York University. After completing her program, she was thrilled to join the SW+ team in 2022.
In her spare time, Maddie enjoys exploring the outdoors, reading the newest mystery novel, spending time with her dog Riley, and struggling to keep her plants alive.
Ricky began his career with Seamon Whiteside in 2022. He is a graduate from Greenville Technical College and has three years of previous design experience at an engineering firm that specializes in telecommunications. Ricky enjoys going to the gym, sketching, watching movies, and making memories with friends and family in his free time. He also serves part time in the South Carolina Army National Guard.
Trentin grew up in Pennsylvania and graduated from Penn State with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture in 2021. He worked with a land development firm in State College, Pa directly after school for a year before relocating to South Carolina and Seamon Whiteside in 2022. Trentin enjoys half priced beers, motocross, and playing golf in the evenings where he’s constantly adjusting his swing mid round.
Brad Hinchberger, EIT
Brad is originally from Northern Virginia and graduated from Virginia Tech in 2019. He spent the first two years of his career at Bowman Consulting and is very excited to start his next chapter at SeamonWhiteside.
Brad is an extremely active person and loves the outdoors. His main hobbies are tennis, hanging out with friends, watching football, and learning more about how he can grow as a person.
Morgan Hodgkinson, EIT
Morgan graduated from The University of Georgia with an Environmental Engineering degree in 2021 and began working for SeamonWhiteside after graduation. Outside of work, she enjoys being outdoors, working out and exploring different restaurants. Go dawgs!
Gabriel Hoff, EIT
Gabe graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a Minor in Mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He began working with SW+ full time shortly after graduating in 2022. He has lived around the Charlotte area his whole life and loves everything about the city. Outside of work, he enjoys playing and watching sports, spending time with family and friends, reading, and playing the piano.
Justin Hoffner, EIT
Justin graduated from Clemson University in May 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. He began his career in the Water and Wastewater industry but transitioned into single family residential after coming on with SeamonWhiteside in 2022. In his free time, he loves to hunt, fish, and be outside. He also loves volunteering with the youth because he thinks kids are funny and make him feel like a kid!
Austin Horvat, PE
Austin joined the SW+ Greenville team in 2018 after graduating from the University of Georgia. He is a certified EIT and is working toward obtaining his PE license. Austin grew up in Georgia and enjoys spending time outdoors, watching the Dawgs, visiting breweries, and hanging out with friends and family.
Tommy Huang, EIT
Tommy graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering in 2011. Shortly after graduating Tommy began working at a multi-disciplinary civil engineering consulting firm in Columbia gaining experience with site and infrastructure design as well as construction administration of commercial and large scale industrial projects located throughout the state of South Carolina. In his free time, Tommy enjoys being outdoors especially on the beach, watching and playing sports, and cheering on the Carolina Gamecocks.
David Humphries, EIT
David was born and raised in Greenwood, SC. He graduated from Clemson University in May 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. He brings prior civil design experience but also worked with a general contractor and in a manufacturing plant during his college career.
During his free time David enjoys, fishing, hiking, and going on adventures with his wife, Sabrina.
Haley graduated from Clemson University with a BLA in Landscape Architecture in 2005. She interned with SeamonWhiteside while in college and joined the SW+ Mount Pleasant staff in 2006. After several years in the Lowcountry, Haley moved back to her hometown, Greenville, and joined the Greenville team in 2011. Outside of the office Haley coaches and instructs functional fitness and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
One of two ‘double-dippers’ at SW+, David returned to SeamonWhiteside in 2015 as a Civil Engineering Field Technician after a hiatus of twenty years. During his time away, he gained valuable experience in various aspects of the construction and engineering fields, including specialized marine construction, storm water and erosion control, hydro-seeding and soil stabilization; experience he calls upon to enhance his work with the company’s Construction Administration Department today. David spends his time off enjoying outdoor activities with his family.
Robert graduated from The Citadel in May of 2019. He started work in Charleston with Kimley-Horn in their Transportation Planning and Traffic Operations group. He made the move to SeamonWhiteside in January of 2021. Outside of work Robert enjoys any outdoor activities such as sports, hunting, and cooking out.
Walker was born and raised in Valdosta, Georgia. Growing up, his life was centered around the outdoors and it’s still a huge part of his life today. Walker graduated from The Georgia Southern University with a Civil Engineering degree. In his free time, you will either find him on a golf course, kayaking, hiking, racing motocross, or hunting.
Zach graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2010 with a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering. Since then, he has worked in both the public and private sectors in design, construction, and project management. After 10 years of experience and moving all over the US, he has made South Carolina home again with his wife and two boys.
Kayla is a native of Athens, Georgia. Her undergraduate education is in Business Administration and she has over seven years of experience as a project manager in both the sales and nonprofit world. Her interest in architecture and love for the outdoors eventually took her back to The University of Georgia where she graduated with her Master of Landscape Architecture in 2022. She now brings a unique mix of project management and design to the Greenville office and is passionate about the impacts of landscape on the mental and physical health of communities.
Outside of the office she enjoys traveling, trail running, and exploring local parks with her husband Jon and daughter Daphne.
Donald launched his professional career at SeamonWhiteside in 1985. He fully committed to the firm and over the next 19 years worked his way from an Engineering Technician to Project Manager to Team Leader. In 2004 Donald left SW+ to pursue other career opportunities in land development. Fortunately, Donald “came home” in 2012, bringing a new perspective on land development and our services, as well as serving in a leadership role in the construction administration department. Currently his primary role is providing construction administration and project management. When not in the field, Donald enjoys spending time his beautiful wife.
Whitner Kane, PLA
Whitner Kane is a licensed landscape architect in South Carolina and Alabama. Originally from North Carolina, she has lived in 10 cities on two continents and is very happy to be back in Charleston and back with SeamonWhiteside. Whitner is a returnee to the firm, having taken a hiatus of several years to live in Europe with husband Michael and become the mother of two daughters. When not working, she fills her time ferrying kids, running, and quilting.
Ian grew up in the greater Boston area, attended the University of Vermont for his undergrad, and recently attended Utah State University for his master’s degree. Having completed an internship with the Mount Pleasant office in the summer of 2021, he and his family are ecstatic to be returning to Mount Pleasant to start a new and exciting chapter in life. Ian and his wife and daughter love to explore their locale by foot, bike, and ski (extended travel now necessary) and have gained a true love for the ocean from their time in the area during the summer.
Brandon is from the suburbs of Northern Virginia and graduated Virginia Tech in 2019 with a Bachelor’s in Landscape Architecture. Before moving down to Charleston to start work at SW+, he worked a few bar jobs and was a lead student designer at a local community design office. Outside of life as a designer, Brandon is usually somewhere near the water getting sunburned, or downtown grabbing food & drinks with friends. He loves doing a variety of things, but his most recent hobbies involve learning to surf and playing the ukulele.
Aaron Lebrun, PE
A 2016 graduate of The Citadel with a bachelor’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering, Aaron joined SW+ Greenville in 2019 after working with another area engineering firm for three years. A Civil Engineering Project Coordinator, Aaron provides engineering design for commercial and industrial sector projects. Outside of work, he enjoys watching sports, hunting, climbing, and other outdoor activities.
After graduating from The Citadel with a B.S. in Civil Engineering in 2000, Wayne brings more than 15 years of design and project management experience on residential, commercial and streetscape projects throughout the Charleston area and the state of South Carolina. Prior to joining SW+, he was at Mount Pleasant Waterworks where he was responsible for a variety of water and wastewater Capital Improvement Projects. Outside of the office he enjoys being with his wife and two daughters, fishing and playing golf.
Melissa Liller, EIT
Melissa graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering in 2013. Shortly after graduation, she began working for an engineering, planning, and surveying firm located in Cheyenne, Wyoming. After gaining some experience in site design, Melissa made the move back to the warm south to join the SW+ team. Outside of work Melissa likes traveling and spending as much time with her friends and family as she can.
Trey Little, PE
Trey graduated from Clemson University in 2013 with a degree in Civil Engineering. After graduation, he worked for a local engineering firm in his hometown of Greenville, NC but in April of 2013, he made the move to Charleston to join the SW+ team. Outside of work, Trey is an avid sports fan and attends as many Clemson and ECU football games as possible. He also enjoys opportunities to visit his parents who moved from eastern North Carolina to Costa Rica in 2015.
Gerhard graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor in Science Degree in Civil Engineering in 2021. He gained experience in the geotechnical field at S&ME as both an intern and full-time staff engineer from 2019 until 2022 when he joined the SW+ Greenville team. Gerhard enjoys watching Clemson football and tailgating in the fall. He also enjoys staying fit, the outdoors, watersports, playing basketball, and spending time with friends and family.
Natascha made the move from Indiana to join SW+ after graduating from Purdue University with a Landscape Architecture degree. During her time at Purdue, she interned with TSW in Atlanta and the university’s Arboretum. As an Indiana native, she’s excited to see what South Carolina has to offer!
Brittany Lowe, EIT
Brittany graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of South Carolina in 2015. Before joining the SW+ Greenville Office as a Project Manager in 2022, Brittany worked with other engineering firms in Greenville, SC. During her free time Brittany enjoys working on projects around the house, cooking, reading, crafting, and taking her dogs on walks.
Mary Martinich, PLA
Mary began her career with SeamonWhiteside in 2019 bringing 10 years’ experience in landscape architecture and urban planning with her. A graduate of LSU with a Masters of Landscape Architecture degree, Mary has worked on a variety of projects from streetscapes to parks, residential gardens and mixed use developments. In her free time, she enjoys going to power yoga, meeting up with friends at Book Club, planting new plants in the garden, and spending time with her son Miles and husband Andrew on the boat and checking out live music at the Pour House.
Weston was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest but migrated to the beaches of Southern California as soon as capable. He graduated with honors from Cal Poly after serving a stint as a Cav. Scout in the US Army’s 10th Mountain Division. He came to the Lowcountry by way of landscape architectural opportunities and a desire for a strong community in which he and his Wife can raise their Son.
His professional landscape architecture expertise draws from experiences with large, upscale hospitality and mixed-use developments, as well as planned communities in Asia and casinos in Las Vegas.
When not fulfilling his duties at SW+ you can find Weston lamenting Seattle sports teams, surfing, riding bikes, and trying to feed his mild case of wanderlust.
A native resident of Charlotte, Clinton comes to SeamonWhiteside with over 20 years of administrative management experience, most recently with Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. Clinton has managed new school building budgets, planning and vendor management from start to finish. He has also managed school and district level departments with finances, day-to-day operations, employee engagement and professionalism. Personally, he is married with a blended family of four children, two dogs, a grandson and a sister-in-law with special needs. Clinton enjoys traveling with his husband, exploring new restaurants, and spending time with his family and friends.
Marc graduated from Clemson University in 2013 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture and a minor in Horticulture. Following graduation, he worked in Nashville, TN for a short while before moving to Charlotte where he continues to grow a wealth of project knowledge and experience. Outside of work, Marc enjoys listening to live music, watching football, playing golf and volleyball, and getting on the water as much as possible.
Daniel Merritt, PLA
Daniel grew up in the Greer, SC and attended Clemson University where he graduated in December 2012 with a degree in Landscape Architecture. He worked in SW+’s Mount Pleasant office for 2 years, then relocated back to the Upstate. As a Land Planner, he enjoys all aspects of site and landscape design, particularly urban infill projects. When not at work, Daniel enjoys working with his wife to restore their 130-year old farmhouse, spending time with friends and family, and cheering on his Clemson Tigers.
Landon Messal, PE
Landon earned his first Bachelor’s degree at the University of Tennessee in plant sciences and gained invaluable experience in construction and client management over nine years in Golf Course Maintenance. Continuing his education he graduated from The Citadel in 2014 with a Bachelor’s in Civil & Environmental Engineering. Landon has worked primarily on schools, military installations and commercial developments. He has recently passed his PE exam and is finalizing his experience requirement to complete the licensure requirement.
Landon is married to Dr. Carrie Messal and has three children, Cora and Quinn and Emily. Landon is fanatical about University of Tennessee football and St. Louis Cardinals baseball. He is an Ironman Finisher and once ran home from work – 26 miles. His most enjoyable race was the Palmetto 200, a relay race from Columbia to Charleston. However, all of those interests play second fiddle to Landon’s favorite activity: spending time with his wife and kids.
Adam Mikulski, EIT
Adam graduated from Carolina in 2021. After interning with SeamonWhiteside for a year, he was excited to start full time in 2021. Adam loves Civil Engineering and is also an avid scrap booker. His favorite scrapbook is the one he made when South Carolina won back to back baseball titles.
Luke Mitchell, EIT
Luke earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Civil Engineering from Clemson University. He brings experience in civil engineering design and consulting for the commercial and industrial sectors. A Spartanburg native, Luke is passionate about providing progressive and sustainable development in his hometown. In his free time Luke enjoys playing music, riding his motorcycle, and watching Formula 1 racing.
Will Monski, EIT
Will graduated from Auburn University in 2019 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He is originally from Birmingham, AL and moved to Greenville, SC shortly after graduation. He has his EIT Certification and plans to obtain his PE License soon. When he is not at home with his fiancée, Kristin, and their dog, Piper, he enjoys traveling and sports such as basketball, football, baseball, and disc golf.
A lifelong resident of Mount Pleasant, Cynthia has been an integral part of SW+ since April 1997. As the Administrative Assistant for the main office, she is often the first person a new client or future employee meets. Cynthia handles a number of tasks for the firm; from answering calls to typing proposals and assisting the entire staff to get submittals out the door. When asked, she says that working at SW+ is the ‘best job’ she’s ever had. In her off-time, Cynthia enjoys spending time with her husband, their three sons, and her extended family.
Cameron graduated from Clemson University in 2021 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He is from the Augusta GA area, so he is naturally a big golf fan. He also loves to play disc golf and has recently picked up learning the guitar.
Nick Myers, PLA
Nick moved from St. Petersburg, FL where he was employed at AECOM since 2012 as a Landscape Architect, ISA Certified Arborist and Project Manager. He graduated from Clemson with a Bachelor of LA, and a Minor in Horticulture Sciences. He has a wife, Victoria, who is the owner of Nourishing Minds Nutrition, LLC and a daughter, Madelyn. In his free time, Nick enjoys spending time with his family, fishing and cheering on the Tigers.
Meagan Nakatsu was born in New York state, but moved to Greenville, South Carolina as a young child. After graduating from Mauldin High School she attended Coastal Carolina. Meagan also studied to become and was licensed as an Esthetician. After a car accident changed the trajectory of her life, Meagan became the receptionist for the New Lawyers Building after which she transitioned to work for the building owners in their law firm, Eppes & Plumblee, P.A. She comes to SeamonWhiteside with over a decade of Office Administration knowledge and is excited to be a part of the Greenville team.
When Meagan is not at the office, she can be found spending time with her family, being the “somewhat fun” Aunt Meagan to her nieces and nephews. She can also be found listening to podcasts, visiting breweries, tinkering with DYI projects, attempting to be healthy, or tending to an array of animals, although not in that particular order.
Drew was born in North Charleston and has lived in the Charleston area his entire life. He spent time working in a few different restaurants before attending Trident Tech for AutoCAD and graduating in the Summer of 2019. After school, he joined SW+ in January of 2020. When not at work, he enjoys visiting different local breweries, going to the beach and mountains, watching Gamecocks football and basketball, or traveling to visit his family in Atlanta and Greenville.
Betty Niermann, PE
Senior civil engineer, team leader and residential development expert, Betty wasn’t sure what she wanted to do when she grew up so she tried a bit of everything. After serving seven years in the Navy, she began working her way along the path that would eventually take her to her current role with SW+. She is no stranger to getting down and dirty with her projects having worked as a surveyor, engineering worker bee and project coordinator before earning her place at the leadership table. A practical, hands-on manager, the Citadel graduate and licensed Professional Engineer is known for her love of a challenge, a fondness that raising two teenagers lets her live every day.
Jennifer Palmer, PE
A graduate of the University of South Carolina with a BSCE and a Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering with a specialty in Environmental and Water Resources. Jennifer joined SW+ in 1999 and received her South Carolina PE license in 2001. Among her strong suits are project management, site infrastructure design (grading, storm drainage, and water/wastewater systems, etc.) and developing construction documents. While she has designed a variety of projects including residential and commercial, her specialty is recreation design. Signature projects include the Family Circle Tennis Center on Daniel Island, Brooks Football Stadium and Adkins Field House for Coastal Carolina University, and multiple phases of the Park West Recreation Complex for the Town of Mount Pleasant. Jennifer enjoys spending her personal time with her husband Mark, son Jared, and their beloved Labrador retrievers.
Leigh Ann Papajcik
Leaving behind the frigid winters of Holland, MI, Leigh Ann moved to Charleston where she obtained her MA from the College of Charleston and began a career in hospitality management. Her skills and years of experience in process management and organizational systems led her to the City of Charleston Public Service Department. In 2017, Leigh Ann brought her unique skill set to SeamonWhiteside’s Permitting Department where she assists both staff and clients navigate the complexities of the regulatory process. In her spare time Leigh Ann enjoys reading and hanging out with friends.
Tim Parker, PE
Tim is a project manager in SW+’s Spartanburg office, where he provides design and consulting services on a diverse array of projects. Tim earned both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Merrimack College in Massachusetts. Prior to relocating to South Carolina, Tim worked for a firm in Boston, MA focusing on site development design including designing utilities, site layout, site grading, and sustainable stormwater management solutions. He has obtained a broad range of skills from his project experience throughout the East Coast. When not working, Tim enjoys traveling, watching New England sports, as well as spending time with family and friends.
Amy began with SeamonWhitesides in 2022, bringing with her 24 years of experience in CAD as well 18 years in civil design. She attended Anderson College for fine arts and finished an associates degree from Greenville Tech in Architectural Engineering. In her spare time, she enjoys working on new house projects, discovering new restaurants and activities in the area, and spending time with family and close friends, including her pup and 2 cats.
Paul Peeples, PE
Paul Peeples graduated from Clemson University in 2015 with a degree in Civil Engineering. During college he interned with SeamonWhiteside for two summers. Following graduation, he moved back to Charleston to begin his career at SeamonWhiteside. Since then, he has worked on a variety of projects including industrial site design, mixed-use developments, retail, restaurants, and multifamily projects. Paul is a Member of South Carolina Economic Developers Association (SCEDA) and Charitable Society of Charleston. In his spare time, Paul enjoys spending his time outdoors.
Sinuhe was born in Mexico City, raised in St. Helena island off the coast of Beaufort, SC. He moved to Charleston, SC in 2014 where he started working for two certified arborist. Becoming knowledgeable in horticulture methods, landscape and cultivation of trees. In Sinuhe’s off time, he likes to enjoy the beautiful outdoors, and staying active.
Les Phillips, EIT
Les graduated from The Citadel in May of 2007 with a degree in Civil Engineering. Following graduation he began working with a multidisciplinary civil engineering consulting firm in Charleston where he gained experience with large residential projects as well as site design. In October 2013 Les joined SW+ Greenville Office as a civil engineer. When not at work, he enjoys fishing, boating, hunting, woodworking, and heading over to The Citadel to cheer on the Bulldogs.
Spencer Plowden, PE
Spencer is a Charleston native and enjoys spending time with family and friends. You can find him on the Lowcountry creeks, the beach or at the house grilling out on the weekend. Spencer also enjoys traveling and playing/watching almost all sports.
Will graduated from Clemson in 2020 with a degree in Landscape Architecture. While at Clemson, Will was on the Athletic Grounds Crew, where he maintained Death Valley (a highlight of the job) and the other sports complexes. Upon graduation, Will spent a year with a family-owned, design-build landscape construction company, focusing on the design of high-end lake and mountain homes in Western North Carolina. Homesick for SC, however, and dying to get into more of the architecture and planning side of his field, he moved to Greenville, where he worked for an established firm, helping with both single family residential and neighborhood planning. While in this role, Will wore a few hats, among which was getting his feet wet in project management. Will has always had a passion for construction and has been blessed with good contractor relationships. He enjoys design just as much as implementation. Will is happy to be a part of SeamonWhiteside, where he wishes to pursue his licensure in Landscape Architecture in the near future. In his free time, Will enjoys the outdoors, especially fishing and other water activities like wakesurfing. He lives in Greenville with his German Shepherd Lab, Coal and plays lots of pickleball.
David Prohaska, PE, LEED AP
David worked summers at SW+ while obtaining his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Civil Engineering from Clemson University in 2007 and 2008. David joined the firm as a full-time employee in 2008. Working primarily on master planned, mixed-use communities in the Lowcountry, his focus is on design and engineering master roadway and utility infrastructure, wetlands permit coordination, and master hydrologic and flood studies for FEMA and local agencies. When not at work he enjoys golfing, boating, and of course, Clemson football.
Buddy Pusser, PE, LEED AP
Buddy has been providing professional civil engineering services including design, permitting, and construction administration with increasing responsibilities for SW+. He currently manages a team of engineers whose work includes commercial, residential and institutional projects. Daily activities for the team include site planning, infrastructure master planning, grading plans, water and sanitary sewer design, storm water management design, and storm water pollution prevention plans.
Charles grew up in the Atlanta area and graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Landscape Architecture in 2018. Since then, he has been living and working in Charleston on a wide range of project types and scales. He joined the SW+ team in July of 2022 and hasn’t looked back. In his free time he enjoys spending time with friends, the outdoors, and chess.
Jill is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio but has made Charleston her home for the past 31 years. She has nine years of experience in the construction industry in various aspects of accounting, marketing, and administrative support. In her free time, she enjoys boating, photography, watching Clemson & Ohio State football (if they are not playing each other) and spending time with her husband and daughter. Jill’s favorite family vacation is visiting the mountains to hike and go whitewater rafting.
Abigail Richardson, EIT
Abigail graduated from Clemson University in 2012 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering.
She is a Charleston native and loves making the Charleston area an even greater place to live/work/visit for the next generations through her work in land development.
She is a Civil Engineering Project Manager that specializes in commercial and mixed-use developments. She loves the business side of engineering in addition to design, she does a lot of entitlement work along with managing multiple projects around the Lowcounty.
She is very involved in the Charleston Chamber, Leadership Charleston, Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW), and American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
She is a world traveler and cooking enthusiast. She loves to spend time at the beach, play sand volleyball, power walk, and spending time with friends and family.
David joined SW+ in 2003. He studied Civil Engineering and Computer Programming at Trident Technical College and graduated from Southern Wesleyan University with a B.S. in Business Management. David has more than 20-years’ experience working in the fields of Civil Engineering and Information Technology and holds several certifications including Microsoft’s MCSA as well as Network+, A+, and Security + from Comptia. When not troubleshooting and solving hardware, software, and network issues at SW+, David is spending time with his family which includes a teenage son and daughter. He also assists in running a martial arts studio where he studies and teaches martial arts and self-defense to both adults and children.
Kayleigh Roberts, EIT
Kayleigh grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee. She graduated from University of South Carolina in 2021 with a degree in Transportation Engineering. Kayleigh previously had a site civil internship, but was excited to start a new chapter at SW+. She loves to do anything outside, with her favorite places being the water, and you can always find her at the beach on a sunny day. Kayleigh loves watching football, traveling, and playing with her dog, Nugget.
Elisa Sanders, PE
Elisa is originally from DeLand, Florida, and attended the University of Central Florida for her Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. She then moved to Greenville to attend Clemson University, where she received a Master’s Degree in City and Regional Planning. At home she has a husband, daughter, two hound dogs and a cat. On the weekends you’ll find her running half marathons and triathlons, and occasionally baking, knitting or playing board games.
Katie was born and raised in New Orleans and received her degree in Landscape Architecture from Louisiana State University in 2015. Prior to joining SeamonWhiteside, she worked for Spackman Mossop Michaels where she played an integral role on a variety of municipal, educational, and small-scale commercial development projects.
In her free time, she enjoys listening to live music at the Royal American, exploring the local food scene, and testing new recipes in the kitchen. She is also an avid runner, and when not in the studio, she can be spotted exploring the city on foot with her goldendoodle, Lincoln.
Aaron Schmitt, PE
Aaron attended Clemson University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering in 2017. In May of 2019, after two years at another firm, Aaron made the decision to join the SW+ team as a Project Coordinator and hasn’t looked back.
Having grown up in the Lowcountry, Aaron enjoys spending as much time as he can on the water or the links with his family and friends. Go Tigers!
Megan Schoonmaker grew up in Charlotte, NC. She graduated from Clemson University in 2018 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture. She moved to Charleston and began working for SW+ shortly after graduating. Outside of the office you can find her walking her dog, Riggs, watching Clemson or Panthers football, hanging out with her friends, or finding a new place to eat.
Rick Schroder joined the SW+ team in 2018 as the Business Development Director in the Greenville office, bringing with him extensive business development experience and a rich background in industrial engineering. “As a native of the upstate, I have enjoyed being involved in the network that fosters local growth, and I am excited to continue that with the SW+ team.” Outside of the office, Schroder is deeply involved with his family, friends, golf and cheering on the Tigers.
Anna Marie Scoccimaro
Anna Marie was born and raised in Albany, GA and moved to North Carolina to attend Davidson College, where she received a BS in Biology in 2016. She moved back to Georgia to attend the University of Georgia and received her MLA in 2021 after defending her thesis on Ameliorating Homelessness Through the Built Environment. Anna Marie enjoys trail running, playing with her dog, Rosie, and playing chess.
Brittany is a graduate of Tennessee Tech, an Engineer in Training, and actively working towards her PE license. In her free time, she enjoys being outside.
Jamie Sherer, PE
Jamie Sherer graduated from Clemson University in 2015 with a degree in Civil Engineering. Before starting with SW+ in 2021 as a Civil Engineering Project Manager, Jamie spent the previous 5 years working on commercial, industrial, and single-family residential projects across the southeast. Jamie is a Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Outside of the office, Jamie enjoys reading, hiking, spending time at the lake with family, and traveling.
Nicholas Sims, EIT
Nick graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2020 and joined SW+ shortly after in 2021. He is a registered E.I.T. and plans to pursue his P.E. In his free time, Nick enjoys kayaking, cooking, gardening and spending time with friends and family.
A South Carolina native, Kayla studied journalism and English at the University of South Carolina and graduated in 2016. She spent the next few years back in her hometown of Rock Hill, SC where she gained her office management and client relations skills working for a real estate law firm. In March of 2020 she made the move to the Charleston area and joined the SW+ team. Having originally gone to USC on a vocal scholarship, you can find her in her spare time playing music around town, getting into any creative outlet, or listening to far too many true crime podcasts.
Jake Smith, EIT
While earning his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering at Clemson University, Jake was an intern with SeamonWhiteside’s Greenville office. After graduation, he was invited to join the SW+ Spartanburg team full time in 2019 as a Civil Designer. In his free time, he enjoys watching Clemson football and baseball. He also enjoys being outdoors, hunting, fishing, boating, or playing golf.
Olivia graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Civil Engineering. She has a background in both structural and geotechnical engineering from her college internship and her first job after graduating. Olivia is from Lexington, SC and has two dogs, one is a golden retriever named Burban and one is a catahoula named Hyde. She loves being outdoors and enjoys running, hiking, kayaking, and spending time with her friends, family, and dogs.
Carter Stiegmann, EIT
Carter moved to Charleston from Fairfax County, VA in 2020. He graduated from George Mason University with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering in 2015. He has a wife, Jillian, and two dogs Duncan and Rockwell. In his free time, Carter enjoys spending time with his family, working on cars, cooking, and watching Premier League soccer.
Anne joined the SW+ family in 1998. In addition to supporting the Director of Business Development, she prepares proposals, SOQs, and presentations, collaborates with proposal teams, develops collateral marketing and communication materials, and serves as a resource for the company brand. A natural Jack-of-all-Trades, this California native has done a bit of everything from overseeing office moves and build-outs to managing phone and security system upgrades. She has even tried her hand at event planning (Fiesta anyone?). A former licensed Charleston tour guide, Anne has a great love of history; a passion she actively pursues on summer road trips seeking out battlefields, museums and historic structures with the assistance of her patient husband. She is also a passionate pet person.
Paul Talbert, PE
Paul Talbert joined the Greenville office of SeamonWhiteside in 2020. When not focusing on single-family development in the Upstate, Paul spends most of his time with his family. He is blessed with a lovely wife and two young boys who share his enjoyment of the natural, created world from the mountains to the coast. Paul also enjoys home renovation projects, golf and playing with his golden retriever, Patton.
Blake is a South Carolina native. Born in Spartanburg and graduated Clemson University in 2014 with a Bachelor in Landscape Architecture. He has worked on both commercial and residential projects from large scale to the size of a post stamp. He has assisted multiple teams on all phases of the project from site analysis to community meetings and construction documents. Outside of the life as a designer, Blake enjoys his time with his fiancé cooking, gardening, and watching the Clemson Tigers play. Go Tigers!
Bryan graduated from Horry-Georgetown Technical College December 2005 with an Associates in Civil Engineering Technology. Upon graduating from HGTC, he was employed by a civil engineering and surveying firm on Pawleys Island as a Civil CAD Technician with experience in commercial, single family, and multi-family home sites. Prior to coming aboard SeamonWhiteside he worked in the steel fabrication industry as a SolidWorks Operator for 7 years retrofitting and designing steel structures.
Brian is currently enrolled at Trident Technical College earning a degree in Civil Engineering Technology and joined SW+ in December 2016 as an apprentice. Brian served 8 years in the Air Force and 7 years in the Air Force Reserves as an Air Transportation Journeyman. In his off-time, Brian plays volleyball, spends time with his wife and son, and is a die-hard Packers fan.
Upon graduation in 1984 from the University of Tennessee with a BSCE, JR moved to Mount Pleasant. For the first 13 years in the industry, he worked with a geotechnical engineering firm and Charleston Water Systems. Seeking to advance his career, JR joined SW+ in 1998. Since then, his project management and design experience has concentrated on residential subdivisions, commercial and office developments, public schools, parks and recreational complexes. JR is SW+’s Go-To guy for water and wastewater design and frequently works on water, sewer and lift station design and master planning. When not in the office, JR spends most of his time parenting two teenagers but does find time for a hobby or two. A diehard gearhead and budding technophile, his enjoys tinkering and riding anything with wheels, especially dirt bikes, and is always on the look-out for the newest electronic gadget.
Bringing many years of bookkeeping experience gained in the hospitality management industry, Susanne joined SW+ as an accounting clerk in 2019. Desiring a longer warm weather season for herself and her pets than New Jersey offered, she recently made the move to Charleston. A fan of outdoor dining, live music and photography, in her off time, you can find her wherever there is great food, good tunes and gorgeous views.
Navada moved to Charleston from Coudersport, PA in 2021. He graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with a BS studying Civil Engineering Technology in 2020. He has a girlfriend, Brianna, and two dogs Nala and Nova. In his free time, Navada enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, shooting pool and fly fishing.
Chris Watson, PLA ASLA
Born and raised in Conway, SC, Chris is a member of the class of Clemson University’s Bachelor of Landscape Architecture program and is the Director of Landscape Architecture for SW+’s Greenville office. Chris began his career with the firm on Halloween in 1994 working in the company’s main location in Mount Pleasant and then moving to Greenville in 2004 to open the new upstate branch. His current responsibilities include business development, land use planning, site design, community revitalization initiatives, corridor studies, and recreation planning along with assisting in design oversight and project management. Chris is the ‘seasoned professional’ of the office.
Demetria holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the University of South Carolina and brings over 19 years of experience in all aspects of human resources to SW+. She has held many roles in a diverse set of industries including healthcare, maritime shipping, and software engineering. Demetria is passionate about helping organizations develop employee-centric policies and helping individuals across all areas grow professionally and remain highly engaged.
In her spare time, she enjoys reading, cooking, going to the mountains, and watching Clemson football.
Corbin earned his Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering in 2014 from Florida Tech. Since graduation he has worked on projects that range from multi-billion dollar new build projects to smaller one week remodels as a superintendent and construction engineer. He enjoys his time in the field and seeing projects through to completion. When not at work, he enjoys fishing and the outdoor activities the upstate offers.
Russell was born and raised between the Pee Dee rivers in Marion, SC. He attended Coker University and was a member of the baseball team during his 4 years there. In 2016 he was hired as a Project Representative at Hanna Engineering holding emphasis on water, wastewater, stormwater, and site development projects. Russell moved on from Florence in November 2020 to join the construction administration team at SW+. In his spare time he enjoys playing golf and spending time outdoors.
Cody Whiteside, MBA
Cody graduated from Clemson University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics and a Minor in History. After working in the financial and distribution industries for a few years, Cody decided to pursue a Master’s Degree. He graduated with a Master of Business Administration Degree from The Citadel in 2013, and then joined SW+ as a Business Analyst. He leads the Accounting and Finance department at SW+.
Outside of SW+, Cody enjoys playing golf, attending and watching Clemson sporting events, and spending time with his wife Lindsay, sons Cole & Luke, and family.
Kyle Wicks, PE
Kyle was born and raised in Mt. Pleasant, SC and graduated from the Clemson civil engineering program in 2017. Kyle specializes in single family residential projects and day trading. He loves hanging with his bros and lives his best SaltLyfe while wearing 100spf. Go tigers!
Hannah Wilken, EIT
Hannah grew up in the greater Los Angeles area and graduated from San Diego State University with her BS in Civil Engineering in 2019. She has a background in both transportation and site civil and is passionate about developing creative and effective designs for clients and the community. Outside of office she enjoys camping, surfing, and frequenting the local, Charleston music scene.
Skye Wilson, EIT
Skye Wilson grew up in Auburn, AL and graduated in 2021 from Auburn University with a degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering where he specialized in Site Engineering & Land Development. Growing up the son of an architect, Skye has always had a passion for design and construction from a very young age. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, exploring the outdoors, meeting new people, and firing up the grill when he can. He is thrilled to be part of the team at SeamonWhiteside!
A recent graduate of Bob Jones University, Benjamin received his degree in Civil Engineering in May 2022. After completing a student led internship the following summer, he began his professional career at SeamonWhiteside in August of the same year. Although newly graduated, he has worked with teams and projects across several engineering disciplines–his favorite, of course, being civil. In his free time, he enjoys trail-running, reading historic literature, and travelling the states.
Andy Wong, PE
Andy graduated from Georgia Tech, earning a degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on transportation. After graduation, Andy spent time with heavy civil contractors working on projects at the Atlanta airport. When not at SW+ practicing civil engineering, Andy enjoys rooting for underachieving Atlanta sports teams, and claims that he is an adventurous eater.
Frances Yarbrough, PE
Frances graduated from Clemson in May 2013 with a degree in Civil Engineering and started working at SW+ Mount Pleasant shortly after. She enjoyed learning and growing in Mount Pleasant for six years before making the move to Charlotte to help start the SW+ Charlotte office. In her free time, Frances enjoys running, playing tennis, spending time with friends and family, and Clemson football!
Xiaoxi received her master’s degree of Landscape Architecture from WUSTL in May of 2020. She is from China and has spent the last 8 years in St Louis. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, driving around country roads, playing guitar and cooking.
Tony was born in San Diego, CA, but grew up in Seattle Washington and Greensboro NC. He attended UNC at Charlotte (Go Niners!) to study civil engineering with a specialization in land development. Outside of work he enjoys road cycling, cardio kick boxing, long distance running and trail hiking. Tony has lived in Charlotte, NC since 2006, making him “almost” an NC native.
